If you’ve resolved to shed off some pounds then you’ll have most likely made some sort of workout plan. Maybe you’re a newbie to exercising or you haven’t exercised in a long time? Usually it can appear a bit too much and even a little bit awful… not to worry, there’s a quick way to get back into working out again: walking! You should definitely include walking to any workout routine you do.
You can include walking into your schedule in a variety of ways. You and your pet dog can both exercise by taking a 10-minute walk around your neck of the woods. Ten minutes may not seem like a lot of time until you realize that it is equivalent to 70 minutes over the course of a week. If you take your dog for a walk twice per day then that number doubles. If you don’t live too far away from work, try walking there, or at least a part of the way. Naturally, if your workplace is two hours away, you may not want to go walking that far–unless you’re preparing for a marathon! A half-hour walk to your office is possible and if you walk to and from work, you’ll be walking for an hour a day. If you commute to work, merely walk to the next bus stop so that you do a bit more walking in the day. It’s not hard to add walking into your life.
Walking is great for your general health. Because walking is a cardio exercise, you’ll burn up calories, which means you’ll melt off some pounds and it’s also good for your heart. Walking is normally done slowly so you won’t be aggravating your joints too much, unlike running. I quizzed my brother who loves junk food about how he he stays slim. He says he doesn’t know but told me that he does a lot of walking daily. It made good sense when he mentioned that. Walking is very easy to do there’s no excuse you you shouldn’t try it.
Set up a day-to-day walking routine, combine it with a good diet, and you should see weight loss without any major effort. If you walk, you’ll also feel healthier and you won’t be bored with it as it’s not strenuous at all, which will make you feel more driven. You can jack up the intensity level of your walking as you grow used to walking daily. If you believe you could do more, do it. Walk faster than you usually do and maybe jog for a few steps along the way if you feel keen to do it. From that point, you can advance to more vigorous exercises.
There’s no reason that you shouldn’t walk a short distance each day. Even if you are busy, you can take out 10 minutes to walk around the block, or if you are a member of a gym, nip in and do half an hour on the treadmill at a slow pace to start off with.
