Effexor or Venlafaxine belongs to the recently introduced group of antidepressant medications. It is part of the serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) classification. This drug is commonly prescribed to patients who are suffering from various psychological conditions. This would include depression as well as generalized anxiety disorder.
